HOSA members:  All dues must be paid by today, to one of the HOSA advisors.

Recycle team meeting today, in Dr. Sauceman's room, during TNN.  All interested please attend!

Any student, male or female, that would like to wrestle this year needs to see Coach Young or Coach Hardin before or after school as soon as possible. 

Attention new and current Beta Club and NHS members:  The first Beta and NHS meeting of the year will be September 11.  The meeting will be in the library beginning at 3:05.  Any student receiving an invitation to join Beta or NHS has until Sept 4 to get money and paperwork turned in.  Please see Mrs. Sarah Bowen or Mrs. Nicole Owens for details.

Are you considering a military career?  The 9th annual Military Service Academy Day, hosted by Congressman Phil Roe, will be held Saturday, September 8, at Kingsport Center for Higher Education, in Kingston, TN.  Registration will being at 9:00 a.m.  Representatives from US Air Force Academy, US Coast Guard Academy, US Merchant Marine Academy, US Military Academy, US Navel Academy, as well as representatives from Army, Air Force, and Navy ROTC will be available to speak with on this special day.  For more information call 423-247-8161 or email

Attention academically talented Juniors and Sophomores:  the PSAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test will be given at West High October 24.  Academically talented Juniors should take this exam in order to participate in the National Merit Competition.  Academically talented Sophomores may take the test for practice.  The cost of the test is $16.  Registration and payment of fees will be processed in the counseling office.  Please come by and register in the counseling office before Sept. 10.

The Tusculum University Upward Bound Program is now accepting applications.  Upward Bound is an intensive college preparatory program designed to help students succeed in high school and prepare for success in college.  UB offers enrichment activities and academic assistance as well as a residential summer component for students.  All services are FREE for students that are selected for the program.  For more information or for an application, stop by the guidance office.  All interested freshmen and sophomores are encouraged to apply.
