THE WOMEN'S AND MEN'S CROSS COUNTRY TEAMS HOSTED THE PANTHER CREEK ALLCOMERS LAST NIGHT AT PANTHER CREEK PARK.  THE LADIES FINISHED 1ST OUT OF 8 SCHOOLS AND WERE LED BY MADISYN PAGE’S 1ST PLACE FINISH.  SHE WAS FOLLOWED BY ' ASHLYN HAAS--5TH, LINZEE MITCHELL--7TH, KATIE SIMONDS--9TH, CAROLINE SPAIN--10TH, MOLLY WRIGHT--23RD, AND ABIGAIL WILKERSON--34TH TO ROUND OUT THE TOP 7. THE MEN FINISHED 1ST OUT OF 11 SCHOOLS AND WERE LED BY JESUS PACHECO 3RD PLACE FINISH.  HE WAS FOLLOWED BY NATHAN SIA--5TH, LUIS HERNANDEZ--6TH, CHRISITIAN HENRY--7TH, PATRICK LIPOSKY--8TH, TRENT LOVELACE--9TH, AND NICHOLAS NOBLE--24TH TO ROUND OUT THE TOP SEVEN. THEY WILL RACE NEXT AT THE KNIGHTS CROSSING INVITATIONAL IN SALEM, VA THIS WEEKEND.   PLEASE CONGRATULATE THEM WHEN YOU SEE THEM.

Fellowship of Christian Athletes meets every Tuesday morning at 7:25 in Mrs. Blakely's room, 460. Anybody is welcome to come. 

Art Club/National Art Honor Society will meet in Mrs. Reed’s Room (Room 531), today, 3:00 p.m. – 3:30 p.m.

ANIME CLUB will meet at 3:10 on Thursday, Sept 6, in Ms. Hall's room in the freshman academy.  Anime will meet on the first and third Thursday of each month.
New students are encouraged to come join us.  Students are not required to come any number of meetings.  Come join us when you can!

All homecoming court candidates must turn in their signed contract and bio sheet to Ms. Cobb in room 470 by 3pm on Friday the 7th.  You will not be allowed to participate in homecoming events if these are not received on time.  Please see Ms. Cobb for any questions.

Niswonger applications are due to the counseling office by Friday, September 7.

There will be an Inventor's Club meeting on Friday, September 7.  This meeting is for existing members as well as anyone who would like to join the Inventor's club.  The meeting will begin at 3:10 and go until 4:00.  

Any student interested in joining the Tennis team this year, needs to be at the Country Club, Tuesday, Sept. 11, right after school. 

Attention new and current Beta Club and NHS members:  The first Beta and NHS meeting of the year will be September 11.  The meeting will be in the library beginning at 3:05. 

Are you considering a military career?  The 9th annual Military Service Academy Day, hosted by Congressman Phil Roe, will be held Saturday, September 8, at Kingsport Center for Higher Education, in Kingston, TN.  Registration will being at 9:00 a.m.  Representatives from US Air Force Academy, US Coast Guard Academy, US Merchant Marine Academy, US Military Academy, US Navel Academy, as well as representatives from Army, Air Force, and Navy ROTC will be available to speak with on this special day.  For more information call 423-247-8161 or email Tracie.OHara@mail.house.gov.

Registration for the PSAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test is due in the counseling office before Sept. 10.  The test will be at West High October 24.  Academically talented Juniors should take this exam in order to participate in the National Merit Competition.  Academically talented Sophomores may take the test for practice.  The cost of the test is $16. 

Picture retakes for ALL students, including Seniors, will be October 3.  Any student or faculty member that did not have their picture taken may do so on this date.  Seniors will have a $25 sitting fee that covers the cost of the proofs and the use of the formal attire.  Only students that purchased pictures and did not like their pictures should come to the auditorium for retakes.  You will need to bring your pictures back to the photographer to have them remade.
