I attended public school in Hamblen County and graduated from Morristown East in 2002. For my undergraduate degree, I attended Transylvania University in Lexington, Kentucky. I earned my Bachelor's in Women's Studies and Education before entering graduate school at Eastern Kentucky University in Richmond, Kentucky. In 2007, I earned my Master's in Teaching Elementary. I then returned to Tennessee and began post graduate study in Special Education at the University of Tennessee.

My education experience began in Lexington, Kentucky at Kentucky Refugee Ministries. I planned and implemented a summer education program for refugee children relocated to Lexington. The primary purpose of the program was to prepare the children for formal schooling as many had grown up in refugee camps and had never had the privilege of formal schooling. During the school year, I ran an after school program for the children and visited them during the school day.

In 2008, I moved back to Tennessee and began teaching Special Education at East Ridge Middle School. This is my first year at Morristown West.

My swim coaching experience started at the Morristown Boys and Girls club where I began as an assistant coach in 2002. I became Head Coach in 2008 and have seen the team grow and improve immensely. I coached at Morristown West during the 2010-2011 season during which I had my son. I returned to the team in 2013 and look forward to many more successful seasons.

I have one son, Desmond, and two large dogs, Beaux and Belle. I enjoy swimming, running, and riding my bike. I began competing in triathlons in 2011 and spend much of my spare time preparing for one race or another. I also love to read and am a huge Harry Potter fan.
