DECA Students Quality for State Competition

At the beginning of February, DECA (Distributive Education Centers of America) competed in the District 5 competition at the Knoxville Expo Center. This competition is what decides if the competitors will move to the state conference. Mrs. Jackie Cutshaw sponsors DECA.

This year Morristown West High School sent 10 students to compete against the other schools in our district. The ten students include Isaac Adams, Heidi Campbell, Madison Carr, Kaelen Cook, Edgar Hernandez, Leesha Nichols, Myiah Portrum, Alexander Rodriquez, Summer Simms, and Dawson Wood. From those 10, nine placed in the top nine and will be moving on to the state.

Congratulations to:

Leesha Nichols 2nd place in Accounting Applications Services,

Isaac Adams 4th place Principles of Hospitality and Tourism,

Heidi Campbell and Madison Carr 4th place in Marketing Management Team Decision Making,

Edgar Hernandez 4th place in Business Finance Series,

Alexander Rodriquez 7th place in Business Services Marketing Series,

Myiah Portrum 8th place in Quick Service Restaurant Management Series.

Kaelen Cook competed in Principles of Finance,

Dawson Wood competed in Principles of Marketing.

These five students will be competing on March 7-9 in Chattanooga Tennessee. If one is interested in Marketing, Management, Entrepreneurship, Business or majoring in Business in College? Then DECA is for you. Go to Mrs. Cutshaw’s room 482 for more information.
