THE MEN'S AND WOMEN'S CROSS COUNTRY TEAMS COMPETED IN THE REGION I CROSS COUNTRY MEET YESTERDAY IN GRAY, TN. THE LADIES FINISHED 5TH OUT OF 14 FULL SCHOOL TEAMS AND WERE LED BY ASHLYN HAAS IN 23RD.  SHE WAS FOLLOWED BY LINZEE MITCHELL--32ND, MOLLY WRIGHT--46TH, KATIE SIMONDS--49TH, CAROLINE SPAI-- 50TH, EMMA MITCHELL--71ST, AND ABIGAIL WILKERSON--83RD TO ROUND OUT THE VARSITY SQUAD.  THE JV GIRLS WERE LED BY CAILEY COVINGTON IN 25TH PLACE.
THE MEN'S TEAM FINISHED 3RD OUT OF 18 COMPETING SCHOOLS AND EARNED A BERTH TO THE STATE MEET IN NASHVILLE, TN NEXT WEEK.  THE TEAM WAS LED BY JESUS PACHECO--5TH PLACE, CHRISTIAN HENRY--13TH PLACE, TRENT LOVELACE--14TH, PATRICK LIPOSKY--21ST, LUIS HERNANDEZ--24TH, NATHAN SIA--28TH, AND ABRAHAM FLORES--50TH TO ROUND OUT THE TOP SEVEN.  PACHECHO, HENRY, AND LOVELACE EARNED ALL-REGION HONORS.  THE JV BOYS FINISHED 3RD OUT OF 13 TEAMS AND WERE LED BY RICARDO FLORES 8TH PLACE FINISH.  THEY RUN NEXT IN NASHVILLE NEXT WEEKEND.

If you plan to take a dual enrollment class through Walters State in the spring semester, you must pick up a registration packet in the Counseling Office today.

Any student who is in need of community service hours may be able to use an event that has special approval for THIS SATURDAY MORNING ONLY at Applebee's.  You MUST see Ms. Laster by today, to get your name on the list.

Attention Beta Club and NHS members: Beta and NHS will participate in Boo Fest at Fred Miller Park, on October 29.  Please bring in candy to Mrs. Bowen or Mrs. Owens ASAP.  Members needing service hours may volunteer at Boo Fest and Mountain Makins. Sign-up sheets are outside Mrs. Bowen's room.  Also, please drop off toiletry items for the service project to either to Mrs. Bowen or Mrs. Owens now through Thanksgiving.

A Project Graduation meeting will be held on October 30, 2018 at 6:00p.m. in the Heritage Room.  Any senior and/or parent interested in helping with Project Graduation should attend.

This year's TALENT SHOW will be Friday, November 9th during 3rd block.  Auditions for the Talent Show will be held next week, Thursday, November 1st after school. We are looking for special talents from students in all grade levels! Singing, dancing, magic, comedy, poetry, and any other unique talents are welcome to audition! Please stop by room 470 or 710 to sign up and get more information. 

The Voice of Democracy scholarship is now available in the counseling office.  This year's theme is "Why My Vote Matters."  Top scholarship award is $30,000.  There are also many other scholarships available and several deadlines are in December.  Please come by the counseling office asap.
